Shanghai, China

Eating dinner at our hotel in Shanghai. We stayed in the financial district, which overlooks the Huangpu River. It was the tallest hotel in the world!! (ps-my hair was in the soy sauce for this photo and the waiter didn't tell me.)

What we didn't eat.

Bait or lunch?

What we DEFINITELY didn't eat!

Noodle-making!

The century egg Tanner had for breakfast. I think it must've been sitting on the buffet for about a century because it STUNK.

One of these things just doesn't belong...

Looking up in the atrium of our hotel.

The Shanghai TV tower at night from our hotel room.

Shanghai skyline from across the river. The city was SO overpopulated. There really are no words to describe the mass humanity that resides there. People live in the tiniest of spaces one right one top of another. A thin haze of smog seems to hang over the city all the time and our mouths were gritty after walking outside for just a few minutes. Gross!!

Everything was translated very literally there. This sign says something like "The ragamuffin and drunkards will not gain admittance."

This was at a handmade oriental rug factory. I think this lady was very tired.

Chinese silk embroidery - I could've watched this for HOURS.
